Στο τραπέζι με την αγάπη μου (At the table with my love)

By Dean Atta

The world offers itself
to him and he thinks
I must have it all

the Greek word for table
pronounced trapézi
half-sounds like a trap

I ask him to sit
for a meal with me
serve him my love

the Greek word for love
is pronounced agápi
but he is agape

adjective (of a person’s mouth)
wide open in surprise
wonder

he cannot believe
that I love him
that love is enough.
