Nachtvlinder
By Harriet Jae
Say moth –
what delicate gloom,
what haunted rooms,
what lace-clad lady ghosts!
But say nachtvlinder
and I swoon,
and heavenly hosts
of night butterflies
dance white
against the stars,
then in secret
fur-gowned stillness
rest enthralled
on sleeping flowers.
